Department of Counseling and Education
The Department of Counseling and Education is a seamless network of linkages that interfaces the Social Systems of Pittsburgh.
As a seamless network the Center provides direct services, as well as, referrals to appropriate agencies
while augmenting processes and resources that assist individuals and families to navigate and overcome
barriers to poverty by providing exposure to seamless linkages throughout the subsystems and networks in
the Pittsburgh area. These subsystems and networks include resources that are related to education,
health and wellness.
The Department of Counseling and Education also provides case management services to low income individuals and families.
The service categories include employment, education, income management, housing, legal referrals, emergency
services, nutrition, linkages, and self-sufficiency training.
The goal of the Department of Counseling and Education (DCE) is to address the basic needs of the clients enabling them
to become and remain self-sufficient.
The Department of Counseling and Education is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Appointments may be
made for extended hours upon request and availability.
