PCSI Breaks Ground at Environment and Energy Community Outreach EECO Center

Pittsburgh Community Services, Inc. broke ground at the Environment and Energy Community Outreach (EECO) Center site at the corner of East Liberty Boulevard and Larimer Avenue on October 3, 2011. PCSI is the administrative arm of the EECO Center, which is the vision of State Senator Jim Ferlo. The project began in 2009 when the abandoned BP Gas Station site was donated to the Urban Redevelopment Authority. After several revisions, the EECO Center will become a reality in December of 2011. PCSI's anchor program for the site, the Neighborhood Safety Program, will relocate to the new modular construction and provide energy counseling, energy audits, installation of ECO Water and Electric kits, refrigerator replacements through a partnership with Duquesne Light, and other home upgrades to reduce residential energy consumption.
